Cette carte publiée en 1891, après la mort de son auteur, l'ingénieur cartographe Alexandre Vuillemin, Créateur de nombreux atlas réputés internationalement, a ceci de pittoresque qu'elle joint un véritable travail de géographe, soucieux de précision, de réseaux et de distances à parcourir, à une aimable présentation sous forme de vignettes montrant d'aristocratiques demeures éparpillées dans une région qu'on dirait uniquement concentrée sur sa raison d'être : Paris, 2,5 millions d'habitants à l'époque.

Picturesque Map of the surroundings of Paris

This map published in 1891, after the death of its author, the cartographic engineer Alexandre Vuillemin, creator of numerous internationally renowned atlases, is picturesque in that it combines the true work of a geographer, concerned with precision, networks and distances, with an affable presentation in the form of vignettes showing aristocratic homes scattered throughout a region which would seem to be solely focused on its reason for being : Paris, with 2,5 million inhabitants at the time.
